How to install your eSIM

Install at home, while you still have WiFi. Leave the new line off until you land.

Before you start

  • Connect to stable WiFi and turn off any VPN.
  • Your phone must be carrier-unlocked.
  • Don't delete the eSIM once it's installed: activation codes can be single-use.

1Tap InstallIn My eSIMs, open your eSIM and tap Install. The iPhone opens its own eSIM setup.
2Approve the promptsTap Continue and choose a label, for example Travel.
3Keep your home line for callsDefault line: your home number. Cellular data: Travel. Turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching.
With the QR codeShow the code on another screen, or print the email.
1Open the camera setupSettings › Cellular › Add eSIM › Use QR Code.
2Scan the codeFrom your email or from My eSIMs on a computer.
3Name the line and finishSame choices as above: home line for calls, Travel for data.
When you landThe plan starts on the first connection, not when you install it.
1Turn the travel line onSettings › Cellular › Travel › Turn On This Line.
2Turn on Data Roaming for itOnly on the travel line. Keep data roaming off on your home line.
3Test itTurn off WiFi and open any webpage.
